Mastering 8-ball, 9-ball, or any pocket billiard discipline for that matter, is no haphazard task. For some it actually has become a lifetime endeavor. Having this in mind, we’ve developed a scientifically focused pocket billiards training program. A structured program the flexes and flows with each specific individual. It advances and grows as you progress, all the while, teaching you to play with more precision and confidence. The Pool School at JTB is an instructional studio that uses time-tested, battle proven techniques, specifically developed to produce highly skilled players in the sport of pocket billiards. The training program's content and teach range, are much more advanced and technical than any one textbook or video series could offer. What makes these programs unique are the teaching principles used, in which you “calculate” rather than “compensate”. We don’t luck-hope-or chance position for the following shot, we shoot with extreme focus and purposeful intent. The backbone of the program is within the practical application and mastery of "focused pace control." The certainty of all shot making and positional play, are dependent upon the ability of a player to judge and execute the certain pace and specific stroke, required for the particular shot(s) to be played.
Enter the 3 S'ss (beginner) 4’Ssss (advanced.)
During the course of instruction, you will learn how to properly utilize the three & four "S" shooting elements. Otherwise known as:
Shot angle/#, Speed, Spin, (and Stroke -advanced-)
The curriculum has been carefully complied and divided into multiple levels. Levels that can be easily learned and absorbed, to exponentially improve the trained individual's abilities and execution in pocket billiards. This direction shortens the learning curve of traditional teaching methods, by directly influencing the time necessary to assimilate a given task, in a shorter period of time. Lessons are compiled and designed specifically for each student and tailored to their actual play ability. Each level, factors in the different variables influencing a player’s understanding of the attitude and execution necessary for the game. Such focused methods, allow both men and women, to learn, absorb, and ultimately master, drills and specific shots which significantly improve one’s game. And so, we ask, would you want to spend a lifetime trying to unlock and learn the secret techniques of the pool world, or would you prefer a more rewarding game now??
Simply ask yourself the following:
-How serious is your game?
-Would you like to take it to the next level?
-How focused is your mental game?
-Are you familiar with the 12 strokes of Pool?
-Do you tend to attempt low-percentage shots rather than playing a safety?
-Do you tend to begin shooting, without considering cueball deflection and final position?
-Do you find yourself abandoning a position plan route, after the 1st or 2nd shot?
-Do you find yourself choosing a side in 8 ball, simply because a ball is hanging in a pocket?
-Do you find yourself making shot choices, often based on the guidance of other players?
In conjunction with answering the aforementioned questions, one should consider compiling a list of their own strengths and weaknesses, known within their game. It is through the answers to the listed questions and this list, that you can build a solid starting point for training. Many players truly seeking improvements within their game, keep written journals of their matches, training sessions and also their practice routines. Pool School Practice Journals, and Match Logs, will be provided to all students upon request. Additional manuals/logs are also available for purchase through the site on-line store and should be maintained regularly. Each entry should be as detailed as possible, as this will paint a genuine picture of your overall progress, and true ability level.
Moving forward, simply apply your personal self-motivation to all of the new skills that you will acquire during your lessons and training sessions. Try to remember the fun aspects of the game and social enjoyment it brings, and also that you alone set the pace in training. If you are merely seeking more confidence, better shot making, and moderate improvements, than that is what you shall acquire. If your desires are next-level and more intense, then this will be readily apparent and addressed accordingly as well. In either case, you will be afforded every bit of skill, knowledge, and experience the school has to offer, to assist you in achieving all of your goals and fulfilling your expectations.
Until next time,
Hit 'em Straight, and
Thank you once again for choosing,
JTroop
After years of shooting and thinking according to the classic style of pocket billiards, we began testing our own concepts. Mainly out of frustration with the inconsistencies and obscurities found in much of the instructional materials, on the market at the time. As a result, it was decided to design and create our own variety of dedicated instructional methods. Teaching methods, specifically focusing on the relative connection that exists, between the mind and the body. In doing so, we have devised a learning platform that utilizes the elements of thought, in combination with specific intent during movement, which lends to a practiced individual shooting more confidently and consistently, throughout the realm of pocket billiards.
The resulting course curriculum is intently guided by each student, and specifically targets those areas of difficulty with which they are toiling over. Identified problems, are addressed with remedial solutions through our cutting-edge teaching methods. The provided information is of our own design and is therefore not available in outside textbooks or videos. A portion of the tutelage involves concentrated communication along with practical application. This affords the instructor the ability to take an idea, concept, or skill, and communicate that new information to student(s) in a manner that he or she can fully comprehend and understand.
